Case study

Leak with end separation in a large-diameter pipeline

Application
marines
Pipe Type (material + DN/OD)
Carbon steel — DN1500
Pain/Context
Leak with end separation and very limited shutdown time
Sector
Water supply / Large-diameter pipelines
Country
France
Keywords
repair, large diameter, water supply, end separation, urban infrastructure

In major city aqueducts, leaks can occur even in existing fittings, and in many cases the real gap between pipe ends is only discovered at the time of intervention. In a DN1500 pipeline in the Paris aqueduct, the repair was carried out using a 300-mm REP coupling, completing removal, preparation and installation in under one hour.
